How I Put Myself Through Hell a.k.a. The Juicing Diet


A few weeks ago I made several posts, on my Facebook page, about the juicing diet I decided to try. A  week after, I have posted the results, and a few people got interested in what I did, and asked me to share the details. So here it goes.
Everything started one night, when my boyfriend somehow find this documentary, on Hulu.com, called "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead". It's about an Australian, who found himself obese at 40 with severe immune deficiencies, triggered by bad lifestyle choices. So he decides to take control over his life, and takes a 60 days road trip vacation in the USA, during which, he won't eat anything, but drink green juices. Long story short, by the end of the movie I was so impressed by the results that I  decided that I'm going to try it myself. 

Next day, in the morning, I went online and found this one week Juicing Diet plan, and I stuck to it. I chose this particularly diet plan just because the author made the grocery list ready on the website. You can use it too or find another one, whatever suites you better. 
Then, we went to the grocery store, and I bought everything I needed for the whole week. I spent around $90, it's a little pricey, and I've read on different forums people complaining that is too expensive to juice regularly.

So, the first day of juicing was easy breezy. I don't eat much anyway, so I figured that it helped me to get into the diet with ease. The second day was the worst in the whole experience. I'll just copy paste what I wrote that day on my Facebook page:

Now is the morning of the 3rd day since I hadn't eaten any solid food. The first day was ok since my body didn't really understand what I am up to. Yesterday though, the 2nd day, was the worst. I was weak, moody, irritated, dizzy, sleepy, nauseated, I was shaking like a drunk without it's booze, and I also had a terrible headache. I was on the verge of ending it all and indulge in some deliciously smelling kebob my boyfriend made. But I was tough, and I didn't.
When I feel the urge to eat, the most, I go outside and make myself busy, or just go to sleep. The lunch time is the worst, because it was my main meal of the day, so I try to drink more juice during those hours.
Today I feel much better, I hope that it going to be like this till the end of the day.
P.S I haven't lost any considerable weight yet. I'm minus 1kg ( 2lb. ) but I'm not considering it.


After the second day everything went smoothly. I still had cravings, but it was pretty easy to overcome the weakness, as soon as I got a glass of juice next to me. I took the ginger and the celery out of my diet plan because these vegetables made me sick to my stomach. The substitute for the celery is the romaine lettuce, I didn't care to substitute the ginger though, because it's main role is to add flavor to the juice. 

By the end of the week three 0.5 l. bottles (16.9 oz.) were more than enough to keep me sated. My biggest disappointment was that I lost just 2kg. (4 lb.) after all the sacrifice. Anyway, I was happy that I kinda got my waist back, you can see it in the before and after picture.

One week ago I started juicing. It wasn't as bad as I thought. I am proud of myself that I had enough will power and passed all the temptations. I was able to calmly drink my juice while sitting for hours by a table full of delicious dishes. I wasn't sure I could do this. Even though I lost just 2kg (4 lb.), I feel so much lighter, and more energized. What I'm most happy about, is that I got my waist back. You can see in the picture that it is more defined now.
I am still juicing, but I added one (hard) meal per day.
 

I wish good luck to everyone who wants to try the diet. I'm going to be a cliche right now, but I'm going to say that, if I could do it, you can do it too. I'm the biggest procrastinator you can imagine, but it didn't stop me from reaching my goal.

Cateva saptamani in urma am facut cateva postari, pe pagina mea de Facebook, despre o dieta bazata pe sucuri naturale, pe care am hotarat s-o incerc. Inainte de a va da mai multe detalii, am sa va povestesc putin cum de am ajuns sa iau decizia asta.
Totul a inceput intr-o seara cand prietenul meu a gasit documentariul "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead" (Gras, Bolnav si Aproape Mort) pe website-ul Hulu.com. Filmul e facut de un Australian care la 40 de ani ai sai, e obez, si are multe dereglari imunitare, care-l face sa bea medicamente cu pumnul. Dupa mai multi ani fiind bolnav, isi da seama ca problemele de sanatate au aparut atunci cand a inceput sa se ingrase.  Asa ca intr-o buna zi, protagonistul, se hotaraste sa-si i-a o vacanta de doua luni in timpul carei nu v-a manca nimic solid ci doar v-a bea numai sucuri din legume si fructe.
N-am sa scriu mul, doar va spun ca la sfarsitul filmuluui eram atat de impresionata de rezultatele eroului, incat am hotarat sa incerc si eu dieta pe timp de o saptamana.
A doua zi dis de dimineata am inceput sa caut recete de sucuri pe internet. Am gasit aceasta dieta => One Week Juicing Diet Plan, si am hotarat sa stau pe ea, pentru ca, unul la mana: e planificata exact pe durata de timp care imi trebuie; si doi la mana: are lista de legume deja calculata, facandu-mi mie viata mai usoara. Voi sunteti liberi sa incercati si alte recete, nu e neaparat s-o folositi pe asta.
Dupa ce mi-am gasit planul, am plecat la cumparaturi. Dupa cum stiti eu traiesc in State asa ca pe un cos plin cu legume, am platit $90+. E putin costisitor. Nu stiu care e situatia cu preturile legumelor in Moldova, dar imi inchipui ca-i scump ca intodeauna.
Dupa un film documenter inspirational despre dieta din sucuri, am hotarat s-o incerc si eu pe o perioada de o saptamana. Asta inseamna ca nu voi manca mimic solid, ci doar voi bea sucuri si apa. Astazi este prima zi. Voi continua sa va tin la current cu tote gandurile si senzatiile mele. Urati-mi noroc.

Prima zi de dieta a fost foarte usoara, m-a ajutat faptul ca eram excitata la gandul ca am sa pierd multe chilograme, sau poate faptul ca eu si asa nu mancam mult, nu stiu exact. Stiu doar ca atunci cand imi venea pofta cea mare, un pahar de suc imi linistea dorintele. A doua zi a fost cea mai grea. Mi-am descris senztiile intr-un post pe pagina mea de Facebook:

Asa arata micil meu dejun inainte sa-l transform in lichid. 
Acum e a treia dimineata de cand am inceput dieta, si nu am mancat nimic in afara de sucuri. In prima zi a fost totul bine, corpul meu inca nu intelesese ce am de gand sa fac. Insa ieri, a doua zi de dieta, a fost cea mai  grea. Eram, iritata, fara puteri sau dispozitie, imi era mereu somn, ameteam si pe de-asupra imi mai era si greata. Tremuram ca un betiv care nu si-a luat doza si aveam o durere de cap ca nu puteam deschide ochii. Dupa atata suferinta, eram gata sa cedez si sa mananc niste mititei facuti de prietenul meu, care ma imbatau cu mirosul lor delicios. Am rezistat totusi, iar cand simt ca am sa cedez temptatiei, ies afara la o primblare, sau ma culc. La amiaza mi-i cel mai greu, fiindca, de obicei, atunci mancam cel mai mult
Astazi ma simt mult mai bine, si sper sa fie asa pana la sfarsitul zilei.
P.S Inca nu am pierdut din greutate. Sunt minus 1kg dar nu-l iau in consideratie.

Vreau sa adaug aici ca de la inceput am scos din ratie telina si ghimbirul, pentru ca mi se facea rau de la ele. Daca nu va place nici voua gustul telinei, o puteti inlocui cu salata verde.
Dupa 4-5 zile de dieta,  trei sticle de 0.5 litru  ma tineau satula toata ziua, cate o data nici nu ajungeam sa le termmin. Chiar daca, in marea mea dezamagire, am pierdut doar 2 kg, ma simteam mult mai usoara si vroiam mereu sa ma misc, deci aveam mai multa energie. Cel mai mult m-a bucurat faptul ca, intr-o oarecare masura, mijlocul meu s-a micsorat in diametru, fapt ce-l puteati vedea in fotografia de mai jos.

O săptămana in urma am început o dieta bazată pe sucuri. N-a fost atât de greu cum am crezut. Sunt mândră ca am avut tărie de caracter si am trecut toate temptatiile cu bine. N-am crezut niciodată ca am sa pot duce dieta pana la sfârșit.Chiar dacă am pierdut numai 2kg, eu m-a simt mult mai ușoară si energizantă. Cel mai mult m-a bucur ca mi s-a micșorat mijlocul. Cred ca puteți vedea asta in fotografie. Nu e mare diferența, dar totuși...La moment am sa continui sa beau sucuri, numai ca o data pe zi am sa mănânc si mâncare

Vreau sa adaug ca, in timpul dietei, nici decum nu trebuie sa va simtiti flamanzi. Mie imi ajungea 1.5 l. de suc, dar asta nu inseamna ca pentru toti o sa fie destul. Nu va temeti sa beti atat cat cere organizmul vostru, de la suc nu te ingrasi. La fel sa nu uitati sa consumati cat mai multa apa. Uitati de cafea si ceaiuri. Eu totusi am baut un ceai in timpul dietei, dar l-am facut "slab", fara zahar si cu lamaie. Cum se zice in popor - "apa chioara". Fiti mai tari ca mine si daca vreti ceva caldut se da voie sa bei apa calda cu lamaie.
Va doresc succese tuturor si daca aveti intrebari , nu ezitati sa-mi scrieti.
